Museums open (for free) on 1 & 2 June

The first Sunday of the month (the next will be June 1, 2025) is a canonical appointment with culture and art, on which many museums can be visited free of charge. On this occasion the possibility extends, for state museums, also to the following day: see the schedule of museums open on June 2 (Republic Day) for more details.

Access to State museums will be free for everyone, Italians and foreigners, thanks to the ministerial initiative "Sunday at the Museum." So, doors will be open for free in Florence to several and important museums: Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Medici Chapels, Bargello, Pitti Palace museums and Boboli Gardens,  Archaeological Museum, the Medici villas of Castello and Petraia.

Another initiative, aimed at residents of the Metropolitan City of Florence only, is the so called “Metropolitan Sunday “ which includes free admission and a series of activities (also for families and children) in civic museums, among others. Consult the dedicated page to the "Metropolitan Sunday" on the MusE website.

The same day free admission only for residents of the Metropolitan City to the complex of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo). Every first Sunday of the month, in fact, it is possible to visit 3 monuments (the Baptistery, the Crypt of Santa Reparata, and the Opera del Duomo Museum); on the same day, you just need to pick up the "Giglio Pass" at one of the ticket offices: Piazza San Giovanni, in front of the Baptistery, or at Piazza Duomo 14a.
